Pastoral Search Committee Update

Pastoral Search Committee Update

  1. Preparatory work prior to our first meeting took 6 weeks. This included preparing and evaluating survey forms and questionnaires and organizing all paperwork to get ready to conduct well-organized meetings.
  2. To date, six Search Committee meetings have already taken place.
  3. The committee is currently awaiting recommendations from the Living Stones consultants since their evaluation   of our situation.
  4. The Southern New England District has approved only 1 candidate so far. This person received our questionnaire, was evaluated and screened, voted on, and there was a unanimous decision not to present his name to the deacon board for consideration. Other resumes have been received, but to date no credence has been given to them by our district.
  5. We are now awaiting more candidate names from District Supt. Bob Wise.
  6. The committee has diligently worked for over 2 months and will hold its next meeting on Sept. 12th.

Deacon Board Update

  1. The Deacon Board has had many regularly scheduled and extra meetings (16) since April 25, 2010.
  2. Some meetings have been lengthy (4-6 hours) to continually address the important issues of church management during this interim period.
  3. The frequent and lengthy meetings will continue into the future as conditions dictate.

B.  Believe in Jesus as your only hope of salvation.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Become a child of God by receiving Christ.

A WORD FROM PASTOR MANNY

Something wonderful happens when you resolve, like the Apostle Paul, “to know nothing. . .except Jesus Christ and him crucified” (I Cor 2:2).  It brings out clearly the simplicity and elegance of your new nature in your daily life. It is a change in relationship. You become, in actual experience, crucified to the world and the world to you. This position allows Christ to be in the right position of complete Lordship over you and you in the right position of worshipful submission to him. You will acquire a new viewpoint, and a new power will begin to surprise you in your inner being. Today, may you resolve to know nothing, except Jesus Christ and him crucified. Grace be with you.

A WORD FROM PASTOR MANNY

The LORD wants us to tell of all his wonderful acts and to glory in his holy name.  I would like to do that by sharing some of his wonderful acts on our behalf. My word for our church last Sunday was “May your joy be full today because you know these things about being a new creation.” Last Sunday we witnessed tongues and interpretation that was followed by great worship in both services. God filled many of us with overflowing joy in His presence. Today, as you remember the freedom you experienced last Sunday, let your heart be glad and your tongue rejoice. Today, bring him a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of your lips that confess his name. For he has freed us from our chains and we are his servants, his new creations.  Let us glory in our new nature.

A WORD FROM PASTOR MANNY

There is a precious phrase in the scriptures that is able to transform us and bring to us the strength of the Lord at all times. This precious phrase is “because you know.” What do you know? You know what God has promised in His Word. Jesus said to his disciples, “I have told you this so that my joy will be in you and that your joy may be complete.”  This is why it is written “consider it pure joy when you face trials of many kinds, because you know” (James 1:2-3a), and “[you] joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property because you knew” (Heb 10:34b). Do you know that the saints will judge the world? Do you know that we will judge angels? Do you know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? May your joy be full today because you know these things about being a new creation. Welcome to the amazing new life in Christ!
