A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK
June 28, 2009 by PastorMark.
How we look at difficulties is crucial. As I’m reading about the life and journeys of Paul, I discover trials are part of the adventure. Paul said, “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God” (Acts 14:22). Hardships are places where our faith can blossom and our priorities focus more clearly on what really matters. By looking at our difficulties through the lens of faith in Christ, we grow in Him. G. K. Chesterton wrote, “An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is only an adventure wrongly considered.”

A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK
June 21, 2009 by PastorMark.
A growing Christian is one who forces himself to reflect upon the Lord and all He has done. In our fleshly nature, we tend to forget all of God’s blessings and His answers to our prayers. The Psalmist addressed this and said to God’s people, “When our fathers were in Egypt, they gave no thought to your miracles; they did not remember your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea, the Red Sea” (Psalm 106:7). The Israelites saw with their own eyes the miracles and power of God, but they “gave no thought.” They failed to consider or comprehend God’s ways and dismissed His kindness. As a result, when trials came, their faith was so low that they gave way to complaining, murmuring, and rebellion. Let’s learn from the past! Take time to pray and meditate upon the Lord and His faithfulness. If you “remember” God, you will find faith and strength for the journey and avoid the pits into which others have fallen.

A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK
June 14, 2009 by PastorMark.
Be careful what you desire; you just might get it! Paul told Timothy, “Train yourself to be godly” (1 Timothy 4:7). Just as we can train ourselves to learn new skills, we can (with the help of the Holy Spirit) learn to direct our desires toward the things of God. The growing disciple of Jesus learns to develop a hunger for fellowship with Jesus and His Word. Without these “holy desires,” our hearts incline toward sensual, earthly desires and lusts, which can never satisfy our heart. May our longings agree with the Psalmist who wrote, “The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold” (119:72).
