The Apostle Paul accomplished so much in his life. Of course, we know it was the Holy Spirit working through him, but he also needed to yield to God and His will. Paul’s effectiveness can also be attributed to his intense focus of purpose. In Colossians 1:28-29, we read of his “job description” or “life purpose statement” concerning his work. He wrote, “We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.” From Paul’s statement, I realize that a productive, fruitful Christian life requires a tenacious focus on the purposes of God.
