A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK

Patience is hard, but the results are good. To be willing to wait takes dedication on our part. Instead of reacting to the unpleasant present, we choose to put our hope in God for a better future. James tells God’s people, “Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming” (5:7). James also wrote, “You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy” (5:11). If you’re in a difficult place today, determine to wait patiently on God and do what is right. God opens doors and blesses those who persevere!

A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK

The Aramean commander Naaman had it all figured out. He had leprosy, but he was willing to obey God and go to the prophet Elisha. Naaman envisioned Elisha coming out to him, calling on God, waving his hand over the leprosy, and … healing him! However, Elisha didn’t even come out to meet him. He simply sent word to Naaman that he should dip in the Jordan River seven times and he would be healed. Naaman left in a rage. Why? His expectations of how God would heal him were different than God’s way. Thankfully, Naaman humbled himself and went to the Jordan where he experienced a miraculous healing. We must be careful that we don’t turn away from a blessing from God just because it comes in a different package than what we’re expecting. God may want to surprise you—if you are humble enough to receive.

A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK

Just before he died, King David wrote a last oracle–a poetic testimony of his life with final instructions. In this statement (2 Samuel 23:1-7), he referred to himself as “Israel’s singer of songs” (v. 1). David, the man after God’s heart, knew right to the end of his life the power of songs and of singing to the Lord. Music affects our soul. Our choice to embrace the songs of the Lord, rather than just those of the world, determines our closeness to God and the extent of our victory over evil. Music leads us in a certain direction. What are you listening to, and where do your songs lead you?

A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK

Eighteen of us from Leominster Assembly just returned from Israel this past Wednesday. Thanks for your prayers; God blessed us with good health and no transportation problems. Even more, He revealed amazing things to our hearts and eyes as we visited the places we read about in the Bible. My most special memory is visiting the hill just outside of the old wall of Jerusalem which, for centuries, God’s people have identified as the site of Jesus’ crucifixion. Today there is a church built over this hill, and I spent some time on our free day visiting this spot. After I knelt and touched the rock on this hill, I sat nearby worshiping and pondering the amazing sacrifice of Jesus for me … and for the whole world. It’s still all about Him!
