A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK
April 26, 2009 by PastorMark.
This past week, the Lord led me to a verse in Ecclesiastes: “Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaning-less life that God has given you under the sun” (9:9). The writer of Ecclesiastes struggled with finding purpose, so God led him to reconsider the vital necessity of healthy relationships. Marriage is the primary human relationship to cultivate as we walk with God. The Bible encourages us to enjoy, not just endure, living with our spouse. A trick of the enemy to undermine marriage is to get you to magnify in your mind all that you don’t like about your mate and forget all the good for which to give thanks. Love in a marriage proves itself by intentionally pressing close to one another and “talking out” heart issues while, at the same time, standing on the firm foundation of unconditional love and acceptance. To invest in your marriage is a big step toward a fulfilling life!

A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK
April 19, 2009 by PastorMark.
Recently, while standing in a line, I heard someone at the end of the line jokingly say, “The last shall be first.” Jesus said this in Matthew 19:30, “But may who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.” The context of this statement involved Jesus speaking to His disciples about how difficult it would be for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven (v. 23). By inverting the first and last, Jesus teaches us to live with the values of eternity in mind. What seems so important here will not be esteemed in heaven, and those who seem to be people of little significance here may find themselves first in line there. What matters most is not title, wealth, or looks, but simple faith in Jesus working through love.

A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK
April 12, 2009 by PastorMark.
Jesus said, “But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself.” Jesus allowed himself to be lifted up on a cross, exposed to public shame and humility. But God took this sacrifice and stamped His mark of approval on Jesus by lifting Him up from the grave through resurrection. He went from the lowest place to the highest—exalted to the right hand of God! We are given the great honor to participate in lifting up the Lord Jesus by worshiping Him from our hearts and giving Him the praise and thanksgiving He alone deserves. God proclaims, “Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be distained” (1 Samuel 2:30). As we humble ourselves and lift Jesus up, He lifts us up!

PASSOVER
April 6, 2009 by admin.
PASSOVER
Sundown, Wednesday, April 8, 2009, marks the beginning of this year’s Passover. Jewish people around the world, and many Christians, have celebrated the Passover every year for the last 3,500 years! This celebration, in the form of a special meal (Seder), has been going on ever since the blood of the ancient sacrificed lamb was spread on the doorposts of the homes of the Hebrews enslaved in Egypt. The Lord commanded in Exodus that Passover would be an everlasting ordinance to memorialize the deliverance of the Israelites whose lives were protected by the blood of the lambs.
As believers in the Messiah Jesus, we now see how the ancient Passover lamb was a foreshadow of the coming Messiah, who would himself become the Passover Lamb, sacrificed for our sins. His blood alone can bring deliverance from sin and give eternal life to both Jews and Gentiles who believe in Him. The Apostle John said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world!” (John 1:29). And Paul said, “For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us” (1 Corinthians 5:7). We, now, have become what Rabbi Jonathan Cahn calls the “Passover People” whose sins have been passed over by the mercy and power of God, enabling us to pass over the sins of others and to pass over the trials and tribulations of our own lives.
Our Passover Lamb, Yeshua (Jesus), though once slain on a deadly cross, is alive and reigns in heaven and in our hearts. He has joined us, as one, with the remnant of believing Jews. His Spirit causes us not only to look back and remember the exodus but also to look forward to the future–to the wedding feast of the Lamb (Revelation 19:9) where we will dine with our beloved Bridegroom, Yeshua!
