A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK
Be careful what you desire; you just might get it! Paul told Timothy, “Train yourself to be godly” (1 Timothy 4:7). Just as we can train ourselves to learn new skills, we can (with the help of the Holy Spirit) learn to direct our desires toward the things of God. The growing disciple of Jesus learns to develop a hunger for fellowship with Jesus and His Word. Without these “holy desires,” our hearts incline toward sensual, earthly desires and lusts, which can never satisfy our heart. May our longings agree with the Psalmist who wrote, “The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold” (119:72).
