A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK
October 25, 2009 by PastorMark.
Ezekiel, the prophet, wrote, “If I tell the righteous man that he will surely live, but then he trusts in his righteousness and does evil, none of the righteous things he has done will be remembered; he will die for the evil he has done” (33:13). This verse sobers me because I want to “finish well.” Jesus warned us about a falling away before He returned. Some will turn from the faith and trust in their past righteousness. They think, It’s okay to do evil because God knows I have done a lot of good that will “outweigh” it. Don’t be deceived by trusting in your own righteousness. Trust only in the Lord Jesus Christ and prove your faith by continually doing what is good and right. This is God’s way of true righteousness.

A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK
October 18, 2009 by PastorMark.
How easily we forget. God reminded His people Israel of how He had saved them. He compared them to a baby left in an open field on the day of its birth. The Lord reminded them that it was He who came along and saved and nurtured “the baby” to health and prosperity. The Lord said, “I clothed you with an embroidered dress and put leather sandals on you. I dressed you in fine linen” (Ezekiel 16:10). But Israel forgot God’s blessings and turned from Him to engage in all kinds of evil. God was about to judge them because they “did not remember the days of [their] youth” (16:22). May we never forget what God has done. He has given us life! Every blessing we have is from Him!

A WORD FROM PASTOR MARK
October 11, 2009 by PastorMark.
“I just want to be happy” is the mantra we constantly hear from our fellow Americans. I recently rediscovered a verse from Proverbs that addresses the issue of happiness or blessedness. “Blessed is the man who always fears the Lord, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble” (28:14). Surprisingly, happiness is not attained by directly pursuing it. Rather, God’s Word directs us to the continual fear of God as the key to really enjoying a blessed life. The person who fears God avoids the bondages of evil and the complications of a hard heart. Only by having a healthy fear of God can we stay clear of choices that lead to a life of regret and sorrow. May we always fear the Lord … for our good and ultimate happiness!
