Before being taken up to heaven, here is what Jesus said to his disciples, “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised–in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 1:5-6).  Jesus gave his final instructions before he left this earth to sit at the right hand of His Father, “wait for the gift.” The Holy Spirit is the gift the Father wants each one of us to receive in full. In the next chapter, as they obeyed Jesus and waited in Jerusalem, we read, “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” As we gather today to worship the Lord may we be open to the move of the Holy Spirit among us as individual believers and as a body.
