Impossible Odds
June 26, 2011 by MediaMinistry.
#302, Impossible Odds, Pastor Troy Martin, Sunday, 06-26-2011
Text: 1 Samuel 14:1-14
1. Circumstances Can Change
One day Jonathan said to his armor bearer, “Come on,
let’s go over to where the Philistines have their outpost.” (Verse 1)
How? Do not be content with our impossible circumstances.
Have vision for life during our impossible situations.
Have perspective
2. God can do Anything
“Let’s go across to the outpost of those pagans,”
Jonathan said to his armor bearer.
“Perhaps the Lord will help us, for nothing can hinder the Lord.
He can win a battle whether he has many warriors or only a few.” (Verse 6)
Like Shadrach, Meshack and Abednego, we should stand firm on our faith.
“the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us…
But even if he does not, we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold
you have set up.”
3. You need help from Others
So they climbed up using both hands and feet, and the Philistines fell before Jonathan,
and his armor bearer killed those who came behind them. (Verse 13)
How? People to pray with us and for us
People to be accountable to
People to encourage us
4. God wants your help in the process.
“Come on, climb right behind me,” Jonathan said to his armor bearer,
“for the Lord will help us defeat them.” (Verse 12b)
How? Depend upon God through prayer
Start taking small steps toward a solution
Obey God’s leading

Welcome to LAOG! We are assured that as we meet together for worship, the Lord’s presence will be evident. This is so assuring. Whatever is our individual point of need, the Lord Jesus himself is here to speak words of life, wholeness, healing, provision, deliverance etc. Thank you Lord Jesus.
Note: Next weekend let’s wear our red, white, and blue for Independence Day.

- To provide quality parent/child together time; a time when both can experience something together. Such times can be foundational in a child’s memory.

- MISSIONARY OF THE WEEK
- Rick and Angela Forker, Italy
- What a wonderful time it is to be a part of International ministry in Italy! I think it was best put by Giovanni, a Romanian in our church: “So many of us came to Italy to get rich, however, after I was here a year, I hadn’t even earned one cent. BUT, I found Jesus, and He is the greatest treasure of all”. Giovanni is now taking distance learning courses to become a pastor some day. He, like so many in our church, struggles just to find work in order to survive from day to day. It is so heartbreaking for us at times! However, the real joy is in watching these people –though desperately poor in the world’s eye – become rich in Christ!
- Rick.forker@agmd.org
- THANK YOU FOR PRAYING FOR AND SUPPORTING THE FORKERS!
- CARING CONNECTION
- Cindy Littlejohn’s brother, Richard Ricks, died suddenly from a heart attack. Please pray for God’s comfort for Cindy and Ed and for safety as they head out to Idaho.
- David Blomquist (Marguerite’s husband) had a heart attack and had triple bypass surgery Friday.
- Debbie Cannavino—recovering from knee surgery
- Parker Gulliver (age 2), nephew of Dennis and Marissa Gulliver—rare genetic disease Hemi Hyper Trophy
- Pam Warren, friend of Sally Dyer who is facing radiation for tumors
- Those who have received Christ in the past few weeks
