  • SPOONS FOR HAITI
    • Collection Sunday, 9/11 & 18
    • For many Haitian children hunger is all they have ever known. Hunger is with them the moment they awake, and as they try to keep their tummy quiet to fall asleep. New Missions provides a hearty cooked meal at school. But there are rules—good ones to protect health and life. Each student must wash their hands before eating. Eating without a spoon is not the best option for a child. We do not want them to eat with their hands, even though they may do this at home. Hungry, without a spoon, their eyes search for a friend who will let them borrow his or her spoon. A spoon…what a blessing we can be with something so small. Go buy spoons…buy hundreds of spoons! Buy them for the child, for their family, and buy them for the village. You can find them at yard sales or thrift shops. Let’s provide them spoons for their daily hot lunches at school.

    • The countdown has begun. In less than a month the students begin to stream in. The team here has been at work all summer preparing for their arrival. We have a year’s worth of outreach and teaching ready, new online tools and training just about finished, and a great set of returning student leaders.
    • We have learned a great deal over the last five years, and everything began to come together this last year. God guided us to a new focus for our Tuesday night main gatherings that has led to more student interest and more guests. We have overhauled our ministry philosophy in major ways. This has led to a greater understanding of what we are about for our students and has led to a greater buy in. We believe God has prepared us for a productive year for his kingdom.lynn@in-b-tween.org
