Candidate Announcement

Candidate Announcement, December 19, 2010

Paul and Ann MartinWe are very grateful for the demonstrated commitment of this church to our calling.  Although these past few months have been challenging, we can also see the hand of God at work in our hearts individually and in the body as a whole.  We are thankful to the Lord for those who have been standing with us during this process.  Eddy Hall and Mike Hare consultants from Living Stones have been a real source of encouragement.  In particular, we would like to thank our District Pastor, Bob Wise, for his concern and help along the way.  One of the ways that our Assemblies of God leaders helped us was in making the connection to bring Paul and Ann Martin here to serve as interim pastor.  In recent days the Deacon Board and the Search Committee both have met with Pastor Paul to discuss the possibility of him becoming a candidate to serve as Pastor of Leominster Assembly of God Church.  In addition, this proposal has been presented to our District leaders for their consideration.  The consensus of all participants in this process, Pastor Paul and Ann, Pastor Bob Wise, the Search Committee and the Deacon Board, is that we should present Paul Martin to the congregation as the candidate for Senior Pastor.

The process that is being recommended is that for 4 Sundays, January 9, 16, 23 and 30, Pastor Paul will present in weekend preaching, a ministry vision for the future of this church.  On Sunday January 30 at 6:30 PM, we are calling a special business meeting for the purpose of confirming the call.  Both members and non-members are welcome to attend and participate.

Please be in prayer during these weeks as we make this very important decision.  The future of this church and the eternal souls of many people yet to be born into God’s Kingdom, are depending on us to know and act on God’s will.  This being said, on behalf of the Search Committee and the Deacon Board, I’d like to commend to you our pastoral candidate, Paul and Ann Martin.

DEACON BOARD UPDATE

The Living Stones conflict resolution specialists will be coming back November 11-14 and will be working with the ministry leaders to present action steps and teach the skills that are needed to correct the present situation. We look forward to a profitable time with them and with each other.

Informational Church Meeting on October 2 at 10AM

Dear Church Family Member,

Rev. Bob Wise (our Assemblies of God District Superintendent), Rev. Gary Collette (our Section Presbyter), and Rev. Barry Risto (Pastor of Cornerstone AG Church in Winchendon) met with some of the deacons on Saturday September 25th 2010.

As a result, our church family is invited to come to an informational meeting this Saturday, October 2nd, at 10:00am in the sanctuary with Rev. Bob Wise, Rev. Gary Collette, Rev. Barry Risto, and the deacons.  This meeting is aimed at getting everyone on the same page so that we are united in the purpose and the process.  Everyone will be informed about the board’s plans in moving forward toward a pastoral candidate under the counsel of the Superintendent.
Pastor Bob Wise will also explain the district’s response to the petition.

Since this is an informational meeting only, the 2-week notice as indicated in our by-laws is not needed.  Attendees who are not members are also invited to come.

The meeting that was scheduled for this Saturday for the leadership to meet with the consultants is postponed.

We announced this on Sunday but we wanted to make sure everyone is aware of this meeting.

In His grace,

Renee Benoit
Church Board Secretary
Leominster Assembly of God

DEACON BOARD UPDATE

A summary of the consultants findings and recommendations will be available Sunday 9/12.

Pastoral Search Committee Update

Pastoral Search Committee Update

  1. Preparatory work prior to our first meeting took 6 weeks. This included preparing and evaluating survey forms and questionnaires and organizing all paperwork to get ready to conduct well-organized meetings.
  2. To date, six Search Committee meetings have already taken place.
  3. The committee is currently awaiting recommendations from the Living Stones consultants since their evaluation   of our situation.
  4. The Southern New England District has approved only 1 candidate so far. This person received our questionnaire, was evaluated and screened, voted on, and there was a unanimous decision not to present his name to the deacon board for consideration. Other resumes have been received, but to date no credence has been given to them by our district.
  5. We are now awaiting more candidate names from District Supt. Bob Wise.
  6. The committee has diligently worked for over 2 months and will hold its next meeting on Sept. 12th.

Deacon Board Update

  1. The Deacon Board has had many regularly scheduled and extra meetings (16) since April 25, 2010.
  2. Some meetings have been lengthy (4-6 hours) to continually address the important issues of church management during this interim period.
  3. The frequent and lengthy meetings will continue into the future as conditions dictate.

Pastoral Search Committee Update

At their August 15th meeting, the Search Committee reviewed a resume and Pastoral Information Sheet, and decided not to pursue the candidate presented. They also finalized their telephone interview questions and Request for Information forms.

ALSO:

Your Deacon Board will be having extended meetings soon in order to evaluate and improve our efforts in service to the body. We all need to be working together in the process of resolution.

Pastoral Search Committee Update

At their August 15th meeting, the Search Committee will be looking at a resume and determining the questions to ask the candidate at a later interview.

Pastoral Search Committee Update

The Search Committee has finalized their list of pastoral interview questions and established a list of agreed upon answers.
